Phil 9.10.2010

7:30 – 2:30 – VISIBILITY

  • Everything is running smooth, which is a good thing seeing as we have a new office with no internet yet.
  • Spent a good deal of time working through scenarios with Keil about what and how to build things for the customer(s)
  • Worked on Flex in a week
  • Assembled a table for the FP

Phil 9.8.2010

8:00 – VISIBILITY

  • Everything looks good at the customer site. Kyle appears to have gotten his account.
  • Paul O has been poking around in visibility again
  • Need to add a map server to fgmdev. Ping’s Tom to do that.
  • Testing PPM with Dong
    • Yellow highlight doesn’t go away
    • “Working” clock icon
    • Double-click to bring up invoice
    • Edit invoice info from list
  • Sharepoint hosting? (http://myhosting.com/business-vps/sharepoint-services.aspx)
  • Had a thought about how to do code completion in the scripting system the same way that google scribe (http://scribe.googlelabs.com/) does it – basically take what other developers have done and suggest that.
  • Talked to Anne about moving SLA forward.
    • Wants a meeting with Brian, Anne, and I about setting up a SOW framework.

4:00 – 6:00 – move

  • Cleaned and assembled

Phil 9.7.2010

7:30 – 10:00

  • Meeting with Trish and Chris. Uncovered a few bugs and requests. Passed the info off to Dong.

10:00 – 1:30

  • Went over to Savage Mill to show our movers(?) what to assemble. Masked everything and started to paint, but got complaints. Will finish later today.

1:30 – 4:30

  • Flex in a week. Fortunately, Dong has downloaded all though itunes.

4:30 – 7:00

  • Savage Mill. Finished painting

Phil 9.3.2010

7:30 – 3:30

  • Everything is running smoothly on site
  • Had a meeting with the SLA folks. About 8 people, including Sheryl H., a senior sla(?). I was able to ingest some of their data during the demo, which went over very well. They are interested in putting together a SOW that covers getting new data from employees, restructuring the current tables/adding new tables to aid in getting the kind of staffing information they need, and extending visualization, for example to show a chart combining two columns. The next step will be to get some data that is closer to the raw forms in the master database, ingest that, and see what we can show with it. But this seems like a real possibility to get some regular development work.
  • 1:00 Meeting with Jim M.
    • Apparently Trish has been sick a lot, and busy as hell when she is in, which is why we haven’t gotten and contact with her recently. Going to try to get contact on Tuesday.
    • Introduced Kyle to Jim M
    • Got the ball rolling on getting the new Virtual Server. We’ll see how long that takes.
    • Briefed Brian on the earlier meeting with sdl.

Phil 8.27.2010

8:00 – 4:00

  • Deployed new PPM and started the process of setting up a meeting with Trish and Chris
  • Tried to get Murph to do something about logging into the server. He’s convinced that Brian can somehow do this
  • Sent a note to John DeMio asking him about his VISIBILITY experience
  • Lots of office stuff
  • Did send off the provisional patent though

Phil 8.25.2010

8:00 – 11:00 VISIBILITY

  • Fixed some aspects of Joe Noble’s account. Ingested some more data
  • Had a talk with John W.
    • John Gresh is leaving in a few weeks
    • Mike Cowan is probably leaving near Jan 1.
    • The current site will probably switch over to SharePoint, with an export of some kind going to SiteWorks. John wants to hand of the SharePoint work to us. I told him that we could probably automate a lot of it, including the SiteWorks export.
  • Walked through PPM with Dong

11:00 – 3:00 FP

  • Provisional patent. At page 8, in the Preferred Embodiment section

3:00 – 6:00 Savage Mill

  • Chairs, desk, fans, build out contacts, etc.

Phil 8.24.2010

7:30 – 2:30 VISIBILITY

  • Set up new account for Joe Noble and imported some data into his role
  • Much Savage Mill stuff
  • General catching up. Everything has moved! The new server appears much faster!
  • Switched maven conf settings
  • Switched svn

2:30 – 3:30 FP

  • Provisional patent

Phil 8.19.2010

8:00 – 11:00 VISIBILITY

  • Added a role for Paul O’s group.
  • Fixed Paul O’s tables. It turns out that the Excel ingestor chokes on ‘-‘. Asked Dong to take a look at informing the user if the ingestor fails.
  • Finished my IA refresher
  • Talked to Anne about Paul’s project and about the upcoming meeting.

11:00 – 1:00 Savage Mill

  • Went over with Brian to explain wall positions and discuss ceiling options. We should have a quote by the end of the day.

1:00 – 4:00 FP

  • Working on provisional patent. Decided not to use the software and just write the thing.
  • Got about 5 pages into the application. It’s coming along well

Phil 8.18.2010

7:30 – 11:00, 1:00 – 3:30 VISIBILITY

  • Talked to Ann, it looks like things may be happening in September. Need to work on getting some of John’s data ingested
  • Started IA online course. Should finish tomorrow.
  • QC-ing Dong’s PPM code
  • More talks with Anne. Meeting at 9:00 Sept 3 for now.

11:00 – 1:00 FP

  • Working on refining collision detection and adding more obstacles
  • Contacted Stuart Shapiro ( sbs@usiplaw.com) about filing a provisional patent. Looks like this would be useful: https://www.patentwizard.com/
  • Had to get rid of an infinitely large vector that results from a collision too close to the origins of the two colliding point masses basically a 0/x problem, where x > 0

Phil 8.16.2010

7:30 – 10:30 VISIBILITY

  • Meeting with Trish
    • Values need to be compared to goals, not planned in Financial Reporting
    • Highlight if planning is below the goal, but don’t bring up the 5 questions
    • Add legends to the charts
    • If user saves an empty form, it should behave like cancel, and not save anything
    • Add commas to financials
    • All chart tooltips say “outlay goals”

Phil 8.13.2010

7:30 – 12:30 VISIBILITY

  • No Trish for meeting reschedule for Monday. I believe that we will try again Monday.
  • Long meeting with Anne and John D. about using VISIBILITY for their stuff.
  • Did find a few bugs with PPM
    • I attempted to save off a filled out version of the “5 questions” form with some cut and paste data in the fields. The form never saved successfully, and the timer icon never came back
    • The vertical tab that switches between charts and data in the financial entry chart has the full year in it. It should be “Year 1”, “Year 2”, etc.
  • Talked to John W. about documentation some.

FP 12:30 – 3:30

  • Got the EL axis working and integrated
  • Got everything working with the physics and the graphics, although I need to clean up collision detection. THings are ready to demo.
  • Worked on the next version a bit. A full hand interface, without additional motion, but able to sense XYZ on its base.
