How do/can we ensure trustworthiness in an age of:
- Instantaneous, many-to-many communication
- “Smart” machines that can effectively mimic much of human communication
- Perverse incentives that lead to vast amounts of credible “AI slop” or worse
- But the value that Generative AI also provides for “interpolating” between things it has been trained on, even if it struggles with “extrapolation.”
This affects everything from job hunting to paper writing/reviewing to international politics. Without solving it, I fear that the only trustworthy communication will be face-to-face without computers.
